Supporter Spotlight: Stephen Deane
Stephen Deane, pictured above in the front row, third from the left, is a long-time supporter of Connecticut Foodshare, and joined our Board of Directors in 2024. Serving on the Strategic Planning Committee, he is passionate about helping our Connecticut neighbors get the food they need and deserve.
Connecticut Foodshare runs over 110 mobile food pantries across the state, distributing fresh, healthy food to over 25,000 households monthly. Stephen recently shared his experience of volunteering at a West Hartford mobile food pantry, and hopes it encourages others to get involved.
"Helping out at the mobile pantry was a moving experience, just getting to play a very small role in helping some of our neighbors in need. But it emphasized for me how large those needs are, how many of our neighbors are struggling and how much our state and community has ahead of us to help address those needs. That's also why I choose to donate...a $10 donation can provide 20 meals, $100 can provide 200 meals. Every dollar can have a big impact to our neighbors in need."
No one should have to worry where their next meal is coming from, but the reality is there are over 500,000 people in Connecticut who cannot consistently access enough food.
