Meet LaToya and Unique.

When our neighbors were impacted by the government shutdown and SNAP disruption, our team helped spread the word about our mobile pantry texting schedule and other locations they could find food resources.

Working full-time as a manager at a well-known fast food restaurant, this single mom still faces financial challenges. Like parents do, she puts her children first by coming to the pantry to get the free, healthy food for her family.

“I have two kids, I’m a single mom. I work full-time but it’s still not enough. I receive SNAP but for now with the government shut down, we’re not getting anything so I’m struggling a little bit with food. I’m trying to just get anything I can for me and my kids. My daughter is seven and my son is two. I just appreciate it. Definitely a help for me!"

When she learned that she can visit any, and as many, mobile food pantries as she needs, she felt relief. Knowing support was available made her feel more optimistic about her financial situation.

"I’m a mom so I just got to figure it out, we never go without figuring things out. I’ll spend my last dollars on my kids just to feed them. Every little thing helps and everyone’s going through a lot, so this is definitely a big help for everybody who doesn’t have anything right now. Definitely a help for me because you know, it’s the beginning of a new month and we have no food in the house right now."
